ciciFTP 2.9.0-beta is out. After Dropbox, two more cloud services arrive: OneDrive and Box.
OneDrive and Box
- In the Site Manager, choose OneDrive or Box as the protocol and press "Connect your account". You authorise it once, in your browser.
- OneDrive works with both personal and work/school accounts. Large files go up in upload sessions, modification times are kept, and deleted files land in the Recycle Bin.
- On Box, files above 50 MB are uploaded in parts; each part and the whole file are checked with SHA-1.
- The access token is only ever sent to the service's own addresses, and it is stored encrypted on your computer.
Tip: the authorisation page opens in your default browser. To approve it in another browser, copy the address from the address bar and paste it there.
Using a brand-new Microsoft account? OneDrive sets up its space on first use. Open onedrive.live.com (opens in a new tab) once, then connect from ciciFTP.
No more stalls
The window no longer freezes during transfers. In our measurements, with 8 parallel downloads the longest freeze went from about 800 ms to 9 ms, and the same job ran three times faster.
Other fixes
- Cancel and Retry pressed just as a transfer starts or ends now behave correctly.
- Unattended tasks no longer hang on a question nobody will answer at an unknown server; they log the reason and stop.
- The bandwidth limit now really applies to the total speed.
- The connection no longer occasionally breaks after cancelling a compressed FTP (MODE Z) transfer.
- A fifth round of security review, theme fixes and a new icon.
