ciciFTP 2.8.0-beta is out. With this release ciciFTP connects straight to your Dropbox account.
Dropbox
- In the Site Manager, choose Dropbox as the protocol and press "Connect to Dropbox". You authorise it once, in your browser.
- Listing, uploading (large files in 8 MB parts), resumable downloads, moving, renaming and deleting are all supported.
- Files are compared without downloading them, using Dropbox's own content hash.
- There is no secret key in the app: the connection uses OAuth2 + PKCE, and the access token is stored encrypted on your computer.
Security
This release also went through a fourth round of security review. A flaw that could have linked your session to someone else's Dropbox during authorisation (OAuth code injection) is closed, and tokens are now kept encrypted in memory as well.
Forum and membership
ciciftp.com now has a forum. Ask questions, report bugs, suggest features. You can sign up to write under your own name and get an email when someone replies — or just post as a guest. Your email address is never published.
What's next
The next Beta brings OneDrive and Box. The interface no longer stalls during transfers either: in our measurements the longest freeze went from around 800 ms to about 9 ms. Details in the changelog.
